Anne Salmon
After obtaining a first prize at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris, Anne Salmon joined the Ballets de Monte-Carlo in 1986, under the direction of Pierre Lacotte and his wife, Ghislaine Thesmar. She followed him when he was appointed director of the Verona Ballet in 1988. In 1989, she became demi-soloist with the Koninklijk Ballet van Vlaanderen.
In 1991, Lacotte engaged her as principal soloist at the Ballet de Lorraine, where she played leading roles in Giselle, La Sylphide, Marco Spada, Swan Lake and L'Ombre (in Lacotte's versions), as well as in works by Balanchine, Fokine, de Mille, Petit and Kylián.
While pursuing her soloist career, she took part in 2000, as Pierre Lacotte’s assistant, in the creation of La Fille du Pharaon at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the starting point of an international career as a ballet master that has taken her to Hamburg, Vienna, Milan, Tokyo, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Shanghai, Buenos Aires and Munich. In addition to works by Pierre Lacotte, she also re-staged choreographies by Fokine and Nijinsky.
Since Pierre Lacotte's death in April 2023, Mrs Salmon has been in charge of the artistic direction of his work.
In 2006, Anne Salmon was appointed professor of classical dance at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris where she continues to teach. In 2022, she was admitted as Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture in recognition of her career as a classical danser, ballet master and professor.
