Lene Schwind

Lene Schwind studied fashion design in Munich and worked for the fashion companies Hugo Boss and Vivienne Westwood. She assisted as a guest at Schauspielhaus Zurich and Theater Basel - during this time she designed costume pictures in Basel as well as for HFF Munich. She assisted at Schauspiel Frankfurt in productions by Michael Thalheimer, Andreas Kriegenburg and Barry Kosky. During this time she worked as a costume designer on productions including Die Frau die gegen Türen rannte (director: Oliver Reese) and Christoph Mehler's production Vor Sonnenaufgang at the Staatstheater Mainz. She has worked with director Christopher Rüping for many years on productions such as Die andere Seite and Der große Gatsby. Engagements have taken them together to Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt and Berlin, among other places. Schwind designed the costumes for all five of Rüping's invitations to the Berlin Theatertreffen. Their joint work on Thomas Vinterberg's DAS FEST was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2015. Invitations followed in 2018 with Trommeln der Nacht, in 2019 with Dionysos Stadt, in 2021 mit Einfach das Ende der Welt and most recently in 2022 with Das neue Leben. In the 2022/23 season, Schwind will make her debut at the Bavarian State Opera with the new production Il ritorno / The Year of Magical Thinking. (Status: 2023)
