Jonathan Soucasse
Composer
The French composer and pianist received his artistic training at the conservatory in Aix-en-Provence, while also studying musicology and gaining a diploma as a ballet accompanist. As an extremely versatile pianist, he is known for the ease with which he creates connections between jazz, classical, contemporary music and improvisation in his compositions and arrangements. He regularly performs as a soloist and composes music for dance ensembles, theatre and film projects. He won the audience prize at the Crest Jazz Festival. As a musician, he is engaged by companies such as Ballet Preljocaj, Merce Cunningham Dance Company, P.A.R.T.S., Ballet de l'Opéra national de Paris and Béjart Ballet Lausanne. With Edouard Hue has not only collaborated with him for Skinny Hearts, but also for several productions of the Beaver Dam Company directed by Hue, namely Flowers (2024), Dive (2023), Yumé (2021), All I Need (2021), Molten (2020) and Shiver (2019). Together with saxophonist John Massa and drummer Jérome Mouriez, he forms the trio Jon & John, which released its second album Momentary Lapse in September 2024.
