NEW BALLET POSTER SERIES
FROM LIFE THROUGH LOVE
The essence of love lies precisely in this: in a dizzying oscillation between grace and damnation, happiness and unhappiness, ecstasy and agony.
In Pierre Lacotte's La Sylphide, the ballet company's first premiere tells of the distorted image of a love that cannot be achieved in this world. The protagonist James falls in love with a winged forest fairy, loses touch with reality and experiences his own journey to hell.
During the Ballet Festival week, the Bayerisches Staatsballett is presenting a three-part evening entitled Wings of Memory. This production combines Jiří Kylián's Bella Figura, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's Faun and Pina Bausch's epoch-making version of Le Sacre du printemps. With a view to Dante's concept of love, paradise in these three works can only be found in unconditional honesty.
Sol León and Paul Lightfoot are curating the third edition of the Spheres series at the Munich Opera Festival, which is dedicated entirely to contemporary dance. For the choreographer duo, paradise, purgatory and hell are present in every moment of our existence and can only be mastered through the love of life.
Different facets of love are reflected in our poster motifs: warmth, mystery, ecstasy, pain and desire.
The posters (A1) are now available in the opera shop for €8.
