As part of the 2nd Akademiekonzert, on 8 November 2021 at 8 pm, General Music Director Vladimir Jurowski incorporates the musical theme of the recent premiere of Dmitri Shostakovich's Die Nase. Together with the Bayerische Staatsorchester, Jurowski dedicates the concert to the composer's stylistic and wide-ranging versatility. Under his musical direction, selected works such as the Tahiti Trott or excerpts from the music to the silent film The New Babylon, will be heard. Sophie Pacini will accompany the concert musically on the piano.
The 2nd Akademiekonzert will take place on 8 and 9 November 2021. Due to their 70th anniversary celebrations of the Freunde des Nationaltheaters there will already be a concert on 7 November at 11 am.
Following yesterday's successful premiere, the 27 November 2021 performance of Shostakovich's Die Nase will be broadcast live on BR-KLASSIK and will be livestreamed on BR KLASSIK Concert and STAATSOPER. TV.

Walter Braunfels The Birds, staged by Frank Castorf returns to the Bayerische Staatsoper on 12 November 2021. Charles Workman and Michael Nagy take on the parts of Hoffegut and Ratefreund. Günter Papendell (Wiedhopf), Caroline Wettergreen (Nightingale) and Wolfgang Koch (Prometheus) perform as well.
Today awarded wit the Operalia Award 2021, Emily Porgorelc takes on the role of Zaunschlüpfer in The Birds and is Ines in Giuseppe Verdi's Il trovatore 31 October and 3 and 6 November 2021. She sings alongside, among others, Okka von der Damerau (Azucena) and Bálint Szabó (Ferrando).
Additional performances of the Mondbär, the Portrait Concert, and an Evening of Arias by the Opernstudio will also take place in November.
