1. Theme Concert

Admission starts at 6:30 p.m. 

Science and art come together in a creative way in the themed concerts. Founded in 2010, the series is organized in close cooperation between the Bayerische Staatsoper and its innovation partner Brainlab. The evenings are dialogues between two expressions of the human thirst for knowledge: on the one hand, in the form of reports from basic research and applied science, and on the other, with music at the pulse of its time for chamber ensembles and similar instrumentations.

In the 2025–26 season, the world premiere of Brett Dean's opera Of One Blood provides an opportunity to take a closer look at the Australian composer's work and the conflicts surrounding this subject matter. Various disciplines from Brainlab's wide-ranging scientific network will approach this topic in expert lectures, while selected works will unfold different aspects of Brett Dean's musical language. The themed concerts are designed to appeal to both the senses and the mind through the interplay of art and science.
