Spain in 1560: life on the brink of the abyss. A land ruled by church and state! Will the mighty – the grand inquisitor and the king – succeed in killing love? Will they manage to extinguish the blazing flame of liberty? Verdi's darkest opera causes us to tremble, but the composer’s musical genius does it in a fascinating and deeply moving way.
For technical reasons, the stage set does not allow the LED panel set up that is now mostly used. For this reason, an alternative version had to be chosen, which can only display one language in the surtitles. This in turn leads to the fact that the displays for the visually impaired seats, which were programmed for a bilingual version, are limited and that the readability of the surtitles is also impaired here.
