UniCredit September Festival 2022
The new Bayerische Staatsoper season will once again open with a festival. The September Festival 2022 offering invites all those in Munich and beyond to open the new season together, joyously and full of diversity. The programme from 16 to 25 September is filled with concerts, operas, ballets, films and other projects.
A free admission Opera for All gets things rolling right away. A Bayerisches Staatsorchester concert conducted by Daniele Rustioni will ring out in Mangfallpark Rosenheim. And on two days no less, as well as enjoying the concerts, all that always wanted to belt out well-known opera melodies can also join in when Choir Master Stellario Fagone conducts the singers of the Opera Choir and encourages the audience to sing along.
In the Kaiserhof square of Munich’s Residenz there will also be further opportunities for interactive encounters with opera – games, performances, insights into the opera’s departments, such as props and make-up, await visitors of all ages. How-to-Opera podcaster Kathi Roeb takes you with her on a discovery tour through the colourful goings-on.
Entitled Herzkammern, the Bayerisches Staatsballett presents a programme that sees the return of Sharon Eyal’s Bedroom Folk, and also includes a creation from the June 2022 Heute ist Morgen series. With the company’s participation, we’ll also see the premiere of the musical theatre, How the Fish Found the Sea, for children aged four and over.
A special highlight in the Nationaltheater is provided by the premiere of the film, Orpheus in Love. Here, Axel Ranisch has staged a story of art and love, trust and getting to grips with one’s own demons, in powerful imagery and music, together with the Bayerisches Staatsorchester and the BSO’s singers and guests.
Also to be enjoyed on the opera stage (again) are Peter Grimes, Don Carlo in the Nationaltheater and the Opera Studio’s acclaimed production of L´infedeltà delusa in the Cuvilliés-Theater.
