Joop Caboort
Light design
Born in The Hague in 1944, Joop Caboort comes from a theatre family: his father was technical director, his mother wardrobe mistress. At the age of 21 he started as a boy electrician at the Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) and went through all the stages of the technical department. In 1970 he became technical director at the NDT and in the same year he was appointed house lighting designer. To date, he has designed the lighting for more than 200 dance productions by choreographers such as Hans van Manen, Jennifer Muller, Louis Falco, Glen Tetley, Nacho Duato and Jiří Kylián. He has worked with set designers such as Jean-Paul Vroom, William Katz, Walter Nobbe, Nadine Baylis, John Macfarlane and Michael Simon.
