Patrick Lange

Patrick Lange studied at the music academies in Würzburg and Zurich and was accepted into the German Music Council's Conductors' Forum support programme in 2005. In the same year, Claudio Abbado appointed him assistant conductor of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. As Abbado's assistant, he worked with the Berlin Philharmonic and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, among others. In 2007, he received the European Culture Prize in the category of Young Conductors' Award, and in 2009, he was awarded the Eugen Jochum Scholarship by the BR Symphony Orchestra, which was awarded for the first time that year. In 2010, he became principal conductor at the Komische Oper Berlin, where he had already been working as first conductor since 2008. From 2017 to 2022, he was Music Director at Staatstheater Wiesbaden. Further engagements have taken him to the Semperoper Dresden, the State Operas in Hamburg and Stuttgart, the Frankfurt Opera, the Zurich Opera House, the Vienna State Opera, the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg, the Opéra national de Paris, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London, the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto, the Korean National Opera in Seoul, Opera Australia in Sydney and the Glyndebourne Festival. At the Bavarian State Opera, he has already conducted series of performances of Hänsel und Gretel, Das Rheingold, Ariadne auf Naxos, Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Der fliegende Holländer.
