Yumiko Takeshima
Born in Asahikawa, Japan, Yumiko Takeshima studied Ballet with Miharu Ishikawa and the San Francisco Ballet. She was a principal dancer with Universal Ballet, Alberta Ballet, Feld Ballet NY, Het National Ballet, and the Dresden Semper Oper Ballet. At the Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition Yumiko Takeshima received the gold medal in 1996. In 2002 she founded her own dancewear company YUMIKO. Her dance wear was also used for the movie Black Swan in 2010. Takeshima designs costumes for choreographers like Jorma Elo, David Dawson, William Forsythe and Alexei Ratmansky. For the Bayerisches Staatsballett she is creating the costumes for David Dawson's Affairs of the Heart in the 2021-22 season.
