Choreography Simone Sandroni. Music Iggy Pop.

DANCE ON is a Germany-wide initiative with the goal of producing works for dancers over 40 at a variety of locations. Remembering the game-changing productions and Season 2015/2016 opportunity for older dancers created by Jiří Kylián for the no-longer existing NDT 3, we as a large German ballet ensemble were big supporters of DANCE ON from the getgo.

One of those great pieces The Old Man and Me was handed over to our ensemble by Hans van Manen in 2002, starring Ivan Liška and Judith Turos.

Simone Sandroni, long-time guest choreographer in Munich and incoming ballet director in Bielefeld starting with the 2015/2016 season will once again create for the Bavarian State Ballet and Ivan Liška. In his piece, the youngest dancers will share the stage with the 'older' dancers from the main company.

Iggy Pop composed a song reflecting on human beings as wanderers in time. The lyrics will be a point of departure, inspiring the choreography.
