Laurretta Summerscales-Acosta
Principal Dancer
Laurretta Summerscales was born in Runnymede (Surrey, UK) and started her dance education at the age of three. After her diploma at the English National Ballet School she became a member of the English National Ballet. In 2013 she was promoted to first soloist and in 2016 to principal dancer. In the 2017/18 season she joined Bayerisches Staatsballett as a principal. She has been honoured with a Joyce Percy Memorial Award, a Stella Mann Award, a Baines-Hewitt Award, a Molly Lake Award, a gold medal at the Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition (2013), and twice (in 2013 and 2015) with the People's Choice Award at the Emerging Dancer Competition of the English National Ballet, where she had been named Young Dancer of the Year three times in a row, starting in 2007.
