Exclusive for U30: Ensemble Saturday III

In June, monodramas with musicians of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester and singers who are members of the ensemble or have close ties to the Bayerische Staatsoper are to be shown on the Ensemble Saturday. The Bayerische Staatsballett is also working on new creations.

11 March. The day we realized: from now on there will be no more productions. Backstage, the evening paper of the last performance is still hanging - since then, the company has been waiting for its big performance in front of a large audience. On March 11, there was a lot of complaining, scolding, maybe even crying. A day that was painted red in the calendar - and coincidentally Marius Petipa's birthday! The grandmaster of classical ballet, especially in the last years of his life, also lamented a lot and with pleasure. A grumbler, you might say. His diary notes provide insight into a hypochondriacal, eccentrically vain personality who struggled with the feeling of loneliness. However, when it came to his birthday, he could proudly pat himself on the back as he grew older. "I'm a phenomenon," he confessed on his 87th birthday.

Andrey Kaydanovskiy leads us in humorously mysterious, melancholically honest and hopefully overwhelmed scenes sketchily through situations from Petipa's later years, not leaving his three most famous choreographies uncommented. 11 March - it has hit us hard, and long shall he live.
