07 February 2023: PROVOCATION OF THE PHYSICAL
With Serge Honegger, Nina Hümpel and Christian Gohlke
In the digital age, an ambivalent disembodiment is taking place on media platforms. On the one hand, bodies are thrown onto the screens, dissolved into images and pixels. On the other hand, ideal conceptions of the body are in turn influenced by this. These serve as templates for shaping the body in fitness studios or for trimming it in aesthetic surgery practices. The actual, given human body seems to be a provocation. In contemporary dance, ballet and performance, this development is reflected in very different ways and made into a theme.

Nina Hümpel, the artistic director of the international festival for contemporary dance of the state capital Munich DANCE and Serge Honegger, dramaturge at the Bayerisches Staatsballett discuss under the moderation of Christian Gohlke different aspects of the provocative of the body, its mode of representation on the dance stages as well as the associated potentials for the theater of the present.

It’s all happening in the Nationaltheater and the Ballettprobenhaus am Platzl rehearsal building. The Ballett extra – Talks are now enjoyed since early 2023 in the Café Luitpold, close to Odeonsplatz.
