One night changes everything. A group of young people on a quest. What keeps them together, what makes each person special, friendship or loneliness? An odyssey that takes them to the limits. A journey in which the risk of losing oneself is part of the experience.

In the intricate rooms of BACKSTAGE, club music mixes with the special sound world of the baroque. Motifs of the Odyssey merge with an absolutely contemporary coming of age story. Musical theatre that brings together the world of opera and youthful subculture.

On entering the BACKSTAGE area, we are drawn into the spell and maelstrom of a special evening that director Daniel Pfluger and Munich-based musician and sound-tinkerer Enik work out with singers and musicians, actors and dancers. They design a course in which the audience can discover spaces and experiences, the paths of the spectators separate and cross again. The inspiration is the music of Claudio Monteverdi, which delves into the depths of human emotional states and expresses emotions, raw and direct.

Get lost is a Bayerische Staatsoper, Schauburg and BACKSTAGE co-production.

The idea for the concept of Get lost came to the team consisting of Daniel Pfluger (director), Catherine Leiter (head of Kind&Co Bayerische Staatsoper) and Katja Leclerc (dramaturgy) during a tour of the BACKSTAGE area, with its vast array of elements, from large concert space to intimate stage and bar, to a beer garden. Daniel Pfluger likes to stage across genres and works in different media. He recently staged the concert theatre, Gilgamesh Must Die! at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, for example, and a multimedia adaptation of Stravinsky's "The Soldier's Tale" for the Podium Festival Esslingen. He has also staged numerous plays for the Junge Nationaltheater Mannheim. In Munich, his works have been shown at the Schauburg, and Get lost is his first collaboration with Enik, who is responsible for its musical direction and electronic music production. The music producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist is based in Munich. Along with releasing his own music albums, he has also collaborated with artists such as the Fantastische Vier and has many years of experience as a theatre musician (2018: The Sequel at Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin; 2020: Fliegende Bauten at the Staatstheater Augsburg; 2021: Jeeps at the Kammerspiele Munich, among others).
