Michaela lies in a coma. By her bed is her family, her husband, her daughter, her sister and her husband, with whom Michaela had an affair. The family talk to Michaela and remember scenes from her life, plays family before her sleeping eyes. No one can say if she will wake from the coma. “Coma”, part of the “Schwetzinger Trilogy” plays in absolute darkness. Together musicians, singers and the audience immerse themselves in a limbo. A world of shadows between life and death, but also a demi-monde of human relationships, unfulfilled dreams and desires never lived out. Haas’s composition is played with Claudio Monteverdi’s “Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda”, an enchanting piece of music about the transience of life and mystery of love.
