Starting Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the Apollon Stufenbar will once again invite visitors to relax on the steps of the Nationaltheater while enjoying a drink. At the opening celebration, DJ Chelo, DJ Chadee, musicians from the Bayerisches Staatsorchester, and members of the Bayerische Staatsoper’s opera studio will provide musical entertainment featuring electronic sounds, soul, R&B, and opera arias. On days when there are no performances, the Stufennächte (Step Nights) will once again take place, featuring DJs and live music.
The 2026/27 season kicks off with Opera for All: BMW Classics Concert in the BMW Park. Under the musical direction of Antonino Fogliani, Diana Damrau and Benjamin Bernheim will join forces with the Bayerische Staatsorchester and the Bayerische Staatsballett to create a special evening. The program will feature works by John Adams, Jules Massenet, Giacomo Puccini, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Richard Wagner, and others, as well as choreography by Edward Clug and Marius Petipa.
The new season kicks off with a celebration for everyone: On Saturday, September 19, 2026, the Bayerische Staatsoper will open its doors for the UniCredit Opening Festival. A large sing-along concert on the steps of the Nationaltheater kicks off a diverse program featuring behind-the-scenes tours, concerts, dance performances, workshops, and hands-on activities for the whole family. Following the performance of Gioachino Rossini’s comic opera La Cenerentola, we’ll bring the day to a lively close with jazz and Broadway music.
“Thus the dynasty of the gods perished like a dying breath”: These words from the final scene of Richard Wagner’s Götterdämmerung serve as the poetic theme of our new season.
